BTNET is an e-mail network sponsored by the Burning Tree PTA.
You must have a child enrolled at Burning Tree or be a staff member to subscribe. The Burning Tree community is connected by this e-mail network which disseminates information among Burning Tree parents and staff. BTNET is not intended for exchange among students, and students may not use the network.
The purpose of this network is to provide up-to-date information relating to PTA business, school affairs, or educational advocacy issues. Typical content appropriate for BTNET would also be comments, questions, and requests for information on these school-related matters, as well as announcements and reminders of events and meetings, requests for volunteers, and inclement weather closings and cancellations. In addition, there is a PTA website (BunringTreePTA.org), and each Friday the PTA posts the Weekly Update.
Subscribing to and Using BTnet
You can subscribe to the BTNET by contacting P.K. Kannan by e-mail, or by filling out a membership form. To unsubscribe from BTNET, send a message to btnet-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com
There are a few simple rules:
To send an e-mail to the entire list, address it to btnet@yahoogroups.com. Please note that only subscribers may send a message to the list. In addition, if your message to the list originates from an e-mail address which is different from the address under which you originally subscribed, your message will be rejected.
Please identify yourself in any e-mail you send within the community. Please also note your subject.
Please limit your reply to "sender" ONLY when responding to an individual who originated a message. Most replies are best directed to a particular individual such as the Chair of a committee who is recruiting volunteers. Our list is set to reply to the individual sender if you select the "reply" option.
To send a reply which goes out to the entire list, please select reply to "all recipients" or simply type the btnet@yahoogroups.com address in the address line. Please use the reply to all recipients judiciously! Let us try and reserve communications to the entire list for issues and topics which are appropriate for a group conversation.
BTNET is not a forum for "discussing" specific parents, students or staff members. Personal attacks, hostile remarks, and foul language are not appropriate and are not permitted on the network. MCCPTA Bylaws require that messages not relate to the endorsement of or opposition to any specific candidate for public office. The system will be monitored to ensure its proper use. Anyone who does not adhere to these guidelines will be deleted as a subscriber.
General Guidelines for e-mailing:
E-mail addresses are included in the Burning Tree Directory to facilitate communication between parents within the school community. They should not be distributed or used outside the community or for other purposes .
- If you have published an e-mail address in the Directory, please check your e-mail at least weekly.
- If you are not familiar with the e-mail habits of your intended recipient, you may want to telephone that person to ensure she/he knows a message has been sent.
- All posted messages must be signed by the author. Anonymous mail may not be sent.
