Burning Tree
Elementary School PTA

Why Join the PTA?

There are many benefits to your family, our school and the Whitman cluster, and we are a stronger community when all families participate in the PTA.

The Burning Tree PTA is a great way for parents, teachers and administration to join together to enrich the experience of all Burning Tree students. PTA Membership allows you to be involved within the school community, and parental involvement is a key factor in the successful education of your child.

PTA membership also includes a copy of the BT School Directory, as well as access to the AtoZ mobile app. The school directory and app provide valuable information at your fingertips: class rosters; student contact information; teacher and staff contact information; PTA contact information; school calendar; school policies; and much, much more.

The BT PTA is directly responsible for sponsoring enrichment programs that enhance curriculum, cultural exploration and education at Burning Tree. Additionally, the BT PTA provides support to teachers and other staff to assist in the development of programs and activities that support the curriculum and the student community. Your BT PTA Membership fee goes directly toward organizing and paying for staff development and classroom resources, as well as events that enrich your child’s educational experience, including Cultural Arts Assemblies, International Night, Science Fair and Lego League, etc.. Every year, the BT PTA also hosts community-building events, such as our Back-to-School Picnic, Spring Fair, Talent Show and the 5th Grade Farewell, amongst others. Although our events may look different this year, we are coming up with creative ideas on how to continue these events and engage the BT.

Your membership with BT PTA creates a powerful collective voice to advocate for our students, staff and school. PTA members represent Burning Tree as MCCPTA Delegates, as well as Whitman Cluster Representatives, specifically advocating for causes important to the Burning Tree community and directly impacting our students, such as smaller class sizes and school construction funding for Pyle Middle School and Whitman High School, amongst other important topics affecting our cluster schools. Make your voice heard, and your vote count, by joining the PTA! (**Your membership with BT PTA also includes membership to MCCPTA, Maryland PTA and the National PTA.)

There are several ways to join the BT PTA:

  • Join the PTA online via AtoZ.

  • We strongly recommend that you sign up and pay online. If you must pay manually, please reach out to Julia Taxin to coordinate: membership@burningtreepta.org.

The PTA counts on its members to help through volunteering and fundraising to enhance the Burning Tree experience for students and staff alike. However the BT PTA Membership fee paid upon joining only addresses a fraction of the budget set to create these amazing opportunities. The rest is raised through Fundraising efforts throughout the year, such as Boosterthon and Spring Auction, etc. and Direct Donations from families like you.
